We are here! 2-3 hours of sleep was enough for us, we said goodbye to -1°F Pittsburgh and came to sunny 84°F San Juan!
Our travel was pleasant. All luggage is accounted for. Genesis, her mother and friend found us right away at the airport, and took us to a produce market for plantains.
Then they took us home and fed us a proper Puerto Rican dinner (beans, rice, meat, and salad, with avocado, tostones, amarillos). Delicious!

Then we went for a walk through Old San Juan, it's the historic section of town, as you probably guessed. It's also next to the docks for the multiple cruise ships that come in. They're huge! The buildings are old, and protected by law, but the area is still very pretty and well-kept. The evening was breezy, we heard the coquí frogs, saw lots of kitties roaming, and got plenty of fun pictures. This path follows the edge of the old fort wall and the coastline.

Everthing was going so well! And then it rained. So we were forced to run in to Ben & Jerry's, to wait out the rain. What a bummer, ice cream.
Then we walked to El Morro, an old fort/prison that sits out at the coast, separated from the rest of the city by a grass yard and cemetery. We walked the quarter mile long pathway and explored a little, until it started raining on us again! Great, now we're way far from a roof. So we make a run for it! Back down the path, and, we are soaked! Haha but it was a blast.

Glad it's going well so far! Does Gene's friends have names?
Hey-o! This is Emma. I love your pictures! My favorite is the one of dancing in front of the pink and purple building. But a close second is the 12th one in which you photo-bombed the honeymooners behind you!
I assume pics of the Roberto Clemente statue(s) were left out because they will get a post of their own. Understandable.
